Formic Acid can be used in place of, or in conjunction with, Hydrochloric Acid in both matrix and fracture acidizing. Formic Acid is typically used in deep wells (down hold temperatures exceeding 280°F), wells with high levels of asphaltenes, and when equipment with limited corrosion resistance to Hydrochloric Acid is employed.
